    Ljubljana, 20 January (STA) - The supervisory board of the NLB bank appointed on Thursday Hedvika Usenik, Antonio Argir and Andrej Lasič to the management board to expand it from three to six members. Their five-year terms will start after approval from banking regulator, and they will continue to serve as assistants to the management board until then.

    Dubai, 17 January (STA) - A business forum dedicated to Slovenia's wood processing industry was held at the Slovenian Expo pavilion in Dubai on Monday. Wood is the material of the future that can be recycled or reused, and Slovenia is well aware of this, said the event's speakers at the Dubai Expo.

    Ljubljana, 17 January (STA) - After suspending flights from Ljubljana to Belgium's Charleroi over the winter, low-cost carrier Wizz Air will also suspend flights to London's Luton airport as of 4 February. The connection will be restored at the start of the summer season, at the end of March, the Ex-Yu Aviation portal reports.

    Ljubljana, 15 January (STA) - Slovenian mutual funds managed assets worth a record EUR 4.337 billion at the end of 2021, up by a record EUR 1.101 billion annually, as investors seem to have increasingly opted for alternatives to bank deposits at a time of extremely low interest rates and newly-introduced fees for deposits of over EUR 100,000.

    Murska Sobota/Kamnik, 15 January (STA) - Slovenian food processing company Eta Kamnik has recently acquired the Murska Sobota-based food company Proconi from its sole owner, the French agri-food firm Fleury Michon. Eta Kamnik plans additional investments in Proconi, which is primarily known for its ready-made meals.

    Ljubljana, 10 January (STA) - Slovenia's industrial output was up by 2.8% in November compared to the month before, by 10.1% compared to November 2020, and by 8.7% compared to the pre-pandemic November 2019. Output was up in mining and quarrying, and in manufacturing, the Statistics Office said on Monday.

    Ljubljana, 05 January (STA) - A total of 7,340 electric and hybrid cars were registered for the first time in Slovenia last year. This is more than twice as much as in 2020 and almost triple the figure of 2019, and represents over a tenth of all newly registered vehicles, according to data compiled by the Chamber of Commerce (TZS).

    Ljubljana, 04 January (STA) - Slovenian software company Better has signed a contract with five London hospital districts that are part of the OneLondon health data-sharing system to use Better's digital health platform. The three-year contract is worth GBP 3.1 million or about EUR 3.7 million and comes with the possibility of a two-year extension.

    Ljubljana, 04 January (STA) - A total of 63,675 new cars and vans were registered in Slovenia last year, a 3.18% rise over 2020, when car sales plummeted by more than 25% as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, show the figures released by the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (TZS).

    Ljubljana, 02 January (STA) - National motorways company DARS will mark 50 years since the first motorway section opened to traffic in Slovenia, as well as the former Yugoslavia. It was in December 1972 that first cars drove on the section between Vrhnika and Postojna on what is now the Primorska section of the A1 motorway.

    Ljubljana, 30 December (STA) - Slovenia recorded an annual inflation at a 4.9% rate this year, compared to a 1.1% deflation last year, the Statistics Office reported on Thursday, noting that more expensive petroleum products contributed the most to the inflation. The consumer prices in December meanwhile stayed unchanged on a monthly basis.
